A call and response blessing shared at the 66 West groundbreaking ceremony July 12, 2016  |

L: My name is Lauren Morse-Wendt, I am the diaconal minister serving Edina Community Lutheran Church. With me are Pastor Stephanie Coltvet Erdmann and Pastor Erik Strand, both also serving Edina Community Lutheran. As we bless this ground, we join with Beacon and with this whole community at a sacred intersection where young people and their stories meet community and compassion. As we bless this ground, we set it apart for the special purpose of healing, housing, and empowerment.  We invite you to respond to the words “Bless 66 West” at the end of each petition by repeating, “Bless 66 West.”

S: May the Architect of our Lives bless those whose vision has brought us to this moment. Those who gave form to the void; who labored tirelessly to raise resources; who honed plans and laid a firm foundation. Bless 66 West…

All: Bless 66 West…

E: Bless those who will construct this building. May they have safe working conditions and may not harm befall them. May the jobs created by this project sustain families who call this community their home.  Bless 66 West…

All: Bless 66 West…

L: Bless future generations who will call this site home, the young who will find security in this space, and who will dream dreams for their future here. That all might experience meaning and purpose in their lives.  Bless 66 West…

All: Bless 66 West…

S: Bless this structure, that it might be strong enough to hold each young person’s story. May those stories inspire us to be advocates to change the systems that cause homelessness and perpetuate inequality in our community.  Bless 66 West…

All: Bless 66 West…

E: Bless the relationships that will be fostered in this home, between residents and the whole community, through birthday celebrations, informal conversations, and neighborhood block parties. That we might continue in the ongoing ministry of sustaining this home.  Bless 66 West…

All: Bless 66 West…

And may all the people say, Amen!
