Nicollet Square hosted its fourth annual holiday party last Thursday and it was a rousing success! The party is primarily planned by volunteers from Plymouth Congregational Church and Westminster Presbyterian church, the two partner congregations for Nicollet Square. Members from Edina Community Lutheran Church and Richfield United Methodist Church donated gift cards for the event as well.
Volunteers have been hard at work since October gathering items for the gift room, planning the menu and getting decorations ready. Each youth who attended the event was able to fill up on pasta dinner, get a plateful of donated holiday cookies and get the chance to be escorted [by an elf, no less] through a gift room stocked with household goods, hygiene products, and fun items to wear or use to decorate their apartments. The community room was fully decorated which only added to the festive atmosphere.
Without the support from our partner congregations and many different individual donors who provided dozens of wonderful gift items this special event would not have been possible. For many of our youth this night is the highlight of their year, and their appreciative words and big smiles make all of the planning well worth it.
