How long have you worked at Beacon (or any of its previous incarnations)?
1 year as of June 2, 2015
Describe your job - not necessarily your official job description but what you really do every day.
Best job at Beacon…I get to empower families and help them reach goals that lead to housing, play, hug and kiss babies/kids, motivate a magnificent staff and work in collaboration with wonderful congregations!
Why do you like working here?
I make a difference. It might not be a difference that may have an impact on someone for a month, year or forever but in the moment via a “you can do this," a pat on the back, a hug, a smile, a pair of socks, a bus card…that moment, I make a difference because I am fulfilling an immediate need.
What’s one thing you are most proud of about your work?
That I don’t take anything personally. I can separate behavior from the person.
What kind of job would you have if you weren’t so busy helping to end homelessness?
I would go back to doing radio/TV. I loved being a radio/TV personality!!!
What is your favorite book, movie, comedian, play, sport, pastime?
Favorite Book: Sula; The Old Man & the Sea
Favorite Movie: Solider’s Story; Imitation of Life
Favorite Comedian: Carol Burnett; Lucille Ball
Favorite Sport: Basketball (I played for many years/high school/college.)
Favorite pastime: spending time with my family
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I am an open book…what you see is what you get…
