How long have you worked at Beacon?
3 years as of March 2014.
Describe your job - not necessarily your official job description but what you really do every day.
I get to know the people who fund our work to end homelessness and try to connect their specific passion to the various things we do to that end. I also geek out with the database from time to time and try to help young nonprofit professionals get their career going via an internship with Beacon.
Why do you like working here?
The people. Both inside the walls of the organization and inside the collaborative out in the community. The ambition that runs rampant here and the idea that we really can create really significant change.
What’s one thing you are most proud of about your work?
The number of people who are inspired to help, in very different ways, to create homes for our neighbors.
What kind of job would you have if you weren’t so busy helping to end homelessness?
I would probably enjoy coaching full time (basketball). Research on interpersonal communication is something I feel like I get to do in my job but would like to do for a job as well. Writing and coaching speeches and delivery.
What is your favorite book?
My favorite book of all time is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest by Ken Kesey. You know…it’s the truth even if it didn’t happen. J
What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I always wanted to be a cheerleader in high school but found it hard since I played every sport. I like rallying the troops! So instead, I joined the dance team and still love to dance.
