Opening doors with community support
April 20, 2016

Today over 30 Community Builders gathered supporters to raise awareness of homelessness and the funds needed to end it, one family at a time, in Scott and Carver Counties. The Journey Home luncheon generates community support for Beacon’s Families Moving Forward Southwest program, the only option for emergency shelter option when families in the southwest metro run up against hard choices.  A key part of this support is the sponsorships that cover the costs of the luncheon. As a result, all of the generous donations made by lunch guests and others directly go to providing families with safe shelter and supportive services.

Thank you for your sponsorship.

Furthermore, area businesses have helped create pathways for committed parents to provide for their families and to get back into stable housing as soon as possible. Employers have made accommodations for a parent to work a different shift while in shelter. They may help to coordinate rides when a family doesn’t have a car. And many take a chance and hire a mom or dad who are committed to their families but may have made mistakes in the past. We hope that Families Moving Forward Southwest and the luncheon helps build awareness about how the entire community can be a part of ending homelessness.
