By Laura Vitelli | You’ve won an impressive award!
One that continues a tradition established by St. Francis of Assisi in the 13th Century.
An award that has also been given to Lawrence Welk, Dr. Billy Graham, Sesame Street Staff, Sister Helen Prejean, and Caring Bridge, among many other public servants.
You’ve won the 2016 Franciscan International Award.
The Award is being presented to Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative in recognition of our collective work to end homelessness through housing, shelter and advocacy. Your work as volunteers and advocates and your financial support are being recognized with this prestigious award.
We’re happy that the Franciscan Retreats and Spirituality Center and the Church of St. Michael in Prior Lake are part of our collaboration. They provide shelter and hospitality to families experiencing homelessness in Scott and Carver Counties as part of the Families Moving Forward southwest network. And, we’re honored that the Order of Friars Minor Conventual has selected Beacon for this award.
The Award will be presented at the Franciscan International Award Dinner on Thursday, May 5 at 6:00 at the Wilds Golf Club in Prior Lake. You are invited to be there. Visit the Franciscan Retreats and Spirituality Center website or call 952-447-2182 for information about the dinner and to purchase tickets.
