SUMMARY:Candidate Forum: Senate and House District 44
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating more equitable communities where all people have a home. This vision is in jeopardy as the pandemic and economic downturn are making our housing crisis much worse. A now looming eviction crisis will impact communities across the state\, unless our elected leaders act. \nJoin us as we take this first step and engage our local candidates for public office in this needed and urgent discussion. We will engage the candidates in a conversation to hear their vision for who will make decisions about who gets housed\, the crisis of homelessness\, and the long term solutions\, like Bring it Home\, MN\, Beacon’s rent subsidy campaign. \nFor this meeting we’re inviting candidates for Senate District 44 and House District 44 A/B\, in the area of Plymouth\, Minnetonka\, and Medina. House and Senate District 44 races are essential to many Beacon members who live in the district. The state legislature has a critical role to play in meeting the current challenge and working toward long term solutions. Conversations with these candidates will focus on responses to the growing crisis\, long term solutions like Bring It Home\, MN\, and the state’s responsibility to put resources toward those who need it the most. \n**Please select “Attendee: Quantity 1” below to begin your registration**

SUMMARY:Light the Way Home
DESCRIPTION:Working together\, we believe it’s possible for all people to have a home. We believe we have the power\, if we join our voices and our resources\, to see this happen in our lifetimes. It takes nearly $4 million from our community each year to push our work forward\, with thousands of people giving what they can as a testament to their values.  Light the Way Home is a series of virtual fundraising events where attendees are invited to give generously and introduce others to our vision. Ensuring this future will require the investment of both public and private funds\, and Light the Way Home offers an invitation for you to give generously or in any way that’s meaningful to you. \n

DESCRIPTION:Please register below to join us\, and raise our voices together for the September 1\, Rent is Due: Day of Action. \nOur vision is that all people have a home. The pandemic and economic crisis are building into an eviction crisis\, which could add to the already too large number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. We cannot let this happen\, and home is the solution. \nWe need Bring it Home\, MN\, a rent subsidy program that will allow all low-income Minnesotans the security and reassurance of home. \nOn Tuesday\, September 1\, when rent is due\, join us at 8:30 a.m. for a thirty-minute update meeting\, where we will learn more about the growing crisis\, reflect together over instructions on how to take action together. \nPlease register below to let us know you will participate and to receive further instructions on how to access the meeting. \nWe are committed to holding a Rent is Due: Day of Action every month\, so please mark your calendars for the rest of the year. We plan on having this event the first of the month\, except when it lands on the weekend. Our next two dates will be Thursday\, October 1\, and Monday\, November 2. \nWe look forward to joining with you on September 1. \n

SUMMARY:Rent is Due: Day of Action - 8/3/20
DESCRIPTION:Please register below to join us for the August 3 Rent is Due: Day of Action. \nWe know that hundreds of thousands of our neighbors struggle to pay their rent every first of the month. This is disproportionately true for Black\, Brown\, and Indigenous families due to economic inequities stemming from centuries of historical injustice. As a state and as a community\, we have the resources to make sure all people have a home. We need to unite together to advocate for emergency rental assistance for immediate relief from the COVID pandemic and the current economic downturn\, and also work for long-term repair by creating a Minnesota rent subsidy program\, Bring It Home\, MN. \nOn Monday\, August 3\, we will join together at 8:30 a.m. for a thirty-minute update meeting\, where we will go over instructions on how to take action together. Please register below to let us know you will participate and to receive further instructions on how to access the meeting. \nWe are committed to holding a Rent is Due: Day of Action every month\, so please mark your calendars for the rest of the year.
