SUMMARY:Rent is Due: Day of Action - 8/3/20
DESCRIPTION:Please register below to join us for the August 3 Rent is Due: Day of Action. \nWe know that hundreds of thousands of our neighbors struggle to pay their rent every first of the month. This is disproportionately true for Black\, Brown\, and Indigenous families due to economic inequities stemming from centuries of historical injustice. As a state and as a community\, we have the resources to make sure all people have a home. We need to unite together to advocate for emergency rental assistance for immediate relief from the COVID pandemic and the current economic downturn\, and also work for long-term repair by creating a Minnesota rent subsidy program\, Bring It Home\, MN. \nOn Monday\, August 3\, we will join together at 8:30 a.m. for a thirty-minute update meeting\, where we will go over instructions on how to take action together. Please register below to let us know you will participate and to receive further instructions on how to access the meeting. \nWe are committed to holding a Rent is Due: Day of Action every month\, so please mark your calendars for the rest of the year. We plan on having this event the first of the month\, except when it lands on the weekend. \nWe look forward to joining with you on August 3. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Scott and Carver Regional Assembly: The future of FMF\, Prairie Pointe\, and the housing crisis
DESCRIPTION:Scott and Carver Regional Assembly: The future of FMF\, Prairie Pointe\, and the housing crisis \nJoin almost a dozen congregations from the Southwest collaborative for a virtual meeting as we provide updates and action steps for the future of Families Moving Forward in Scott and Carver Counties\, Prairie Pointe\, and addressing the wave of evictions facing over 250\,000 of our neighbors across Minnesota. We are leading a campaign to change the story around housing and homeless in our communities and organizing for the solutions we need to match the crisis through the “Closer to Home Campaign” \nWe believe that God has given us what we need to thrive\, that we live in a world of abundance\, and that we don’t need to cut one human need for the other. We believe that no matter who you are\, where you live\, who you pray to\, or what you look like\, everyone should have a place to call home at the end of the day. \nJoin us on Thursday\, August 20 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. as we come together to ensure that everyone who calls our communities home has the ability to access and afford one of their own. \n

SUMMARY:Rent is Due: Day of Action - 9/1/20
DESCRIPTION:Please register below to join us\, and raise our voices together for the September 1\, Rent is Due: Day of Action. \nOur vision is that all people have a home. We cannot let this happen\, and home is the solution. \nWe need Bring it Home\, MN\, a rent subsidy program that will allow all low-income Minnesotans the security and reassurance of home. \nOn Tuesday\, September 1\, when rent is due\, join us at 8:30 a.m. for a thirty-minute update meeting\, where we will learn more about the growing crisis\, reflect together over instructions on how to take action together. \nPlease register below to let us know you will participate and to receive further instructions on how to access the meeting. \nWe are committed to holding a Rent is Due: Day of Action every month\, so please mark your calendars for the rest of the year. We plan on having this event the first of the month\, except when it lands on the weekend. Our next two dates will be Thursday\, October 1\, and Monday\, November 2. \nWe look forward to joining with you on September 1. \n

SUMMARY:Light the Way Home
DESCRIPTION:Working together\, we believe it’s possible for all people to have a home. We believe we have the power\, if we join our voices and our resources\, to see this happen in our lifetimes. It takes nearly $4 million from our community each year to push our work forward\, with thousands of people giving what they can as a testament to their values.  Light the Way Home is a series of virtual fundraising events where attendees are invited to give generously and introduce others to our vision. Ensuring this future will require the investment of both public and private funds\, and Light the Way Home offers an invitation for you to give generously or in any way that’s meaningful to you. \n

SUMMARY:Rent is Due: Day of Action - 10/1/20
DESCRIPTION:Please register below to join us\, and raise our voices together for the October 1\, Rent is Due: Day of Action. \nOur vision is that all people have a home. The pandemic and economic crisis are building into an eviction crisis\, which could add to the already too large number of people experiencing unsheltered homelessness. We cannot let this happen\, and home is the solution. \nWe need Bring it Home\, MN\, a rent subsidy program that will allow all low-income Minnesotans the security and reassurance of home. \nOn Thursday\, October 1\, when rent is due\, join us at 8:30 a.m. for a thirty-minute update meeting\, where we will learn more about the growing crisis\, reflect together over instructions on how to take action together. Our next two dates will be Monday\, November 2 and Tuesday\, December 1. \nWe look forward to joining with you on October 1. \n

SUMMARY:Candidate Forum: Hennepin County Commissioners
DESCRIPTION:We believe in creating more equitable communities where all people have a home. This vision is in jeopardy as the pandemic and economic downturn are making our housing crisis much worse. A now looming eviction crisis will impact communities across the state\, unless our elected leaders act. \nJoin us as we take this first step and engage our local candidates for public office in this needed and urgent discussion. We will engage the candidates in a conversation to hear their vision for who will make decisions about who gets housed\, the crisis of homelessness\, and the long term solutions\, like Bring it Home\, MN\, Beacon’s rent subsidy campaign. \nFor this meeting we’re inviting commissioner candidates for districts 1\, 5\, 6 and 7 of Hennepin County. These commissioners would have tremendous power in determining both capital and service funding. Our conversation with them will focus on the state of local encampments\, prioritizing supportive housing for families\, and transparency in their decision-making process. \n**Please select “Attendee: Quantity 1” below to begin your registration**

SUMMARY:Beacon Now: Prairie Pointe
DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re brand new to Beacon or have been a supporter for years\, we invite you to attend a virtual “Beacon Now” session. In this session\, we’ll touch on the basics of Beacon’s work\, go in depth on one aspect of that work\, and discuss how we can make a difference for our neighbors now. Encampments of neighbors without a home are again growing. Racial disparities in housing continue to harm communities of color. This session will cover the status of Prairie Pointe\, our family supportive housing development in Shakopee\, and the actions you can take to get these desperately needed homes built. \n
