SUMMARY:Leadership Assembly: Forward Into the Future
DESCRIPTION:This event is for members of Beacon Leadership Teams or emerging teams. \nFall 2022 promises to be a unique one with the upcoming elections in November as the Governor\, Lieutenant Governor and all the state’s legislators are up for reelection! The fall then will be a pivotal time for us as we work to ensure that affordable housing is a top priority and that those elected will be active champions for Bring it Home\, Minnesota! \nTo be as successful as we know we can be we must start organizing NOW for the fall and upcoming legislative session. Organizers are working side by side with the policy team to draft a skeleton of plans for the summer\, fall and early winter. \nWe’ll gather with Beacon Leadership Teams and emerging teams on Tuesday\, May 24th to share the plans\, gather input and together outline next steps in our congregations. Please make attending this assembly a priority as this is a critical step in achieving success for more homes and more rent support this year. \nCast a vision with us about what it looks like to have a world without homelessness! What does this mean to you and those in your community? Fill in the blank: “To me\, a world without homelessness looks like __________” and come prepared to share your answer! \nThis event will be held virtually on Zoom. \n

DESCRIPTION:Whether you’re brand new to Beacon or have been a supporter for years\, we invite you to attend a virtual “Beacon Now” session. In each session\, we’ll touch on the basics of Beacon’s work\, go in depth on one aspect of that work\, and discuss how we can make a difference for Minnesotans now. Encampments of people without a home are again growing. Racial disparities in housing continue to harm communities of color. \nThis session will cover the launch of our new supportive housing\, Aster Commons\, focused on autistic and other neurodivergent youth in suburban Hennepin County. You’ll learn why these homes are so essential and how they connect to our vision that all people have a home. Join us to learn more and find out how you can get involved in Beacon’s work. \nThis Zoom event will have Closed Captioning available.
