Big win for families in supportive housing
The 2025 Minnesota Legislative Session wrapped up last month and we could not be more grateful for everyone who showed up and took decisive action. Together we fought for and achieved a big win for families in supportive housing. This year, the Legislature passed specific state funding – $750,000 – for services in family-supportive housing. Learn about the funding here and read about why Senior Pastor Dr. B. Charvez Russell and Greater Friendship Missionary Baptist Church stood together with others – like you – to help make this happen. Pastor Russell says, “You can’t walk away when you have a relationship.”

Announcing two new partnerships in Beacon supportive housing
Over the past 25 years Beacon has grown from a single church to a collaborative of more than 70 congregations and dozens of partners in construction, operations, and services. Together, our work has helped provide homes for thousands of people. This month we are thrilled to announce that Solid Ground has been chosen as the service provider at The Aragon in St Paul where 53 homes are in development for families and kids. Solid Ground will offer a range of services from case management, parenting and educational support as well as budgeting, career development, and financial literacy. We are also excited to welcome Touchstone Mental Health as the new service provider at Lydia Apartments in Minneapolis. Touchstone will partner with residents to support their personal goals, build community, and offer music and art programming as part of their holistic approach to mental health and well-being. Beacon is grateful to all our service partners who make the word “supportive” come to life in our supportive housing model.

Last chance to attend the July 1 Defend Federal Funding for Housing Event
The final event in a series of three regional events will take place tomorrow (July 1) in Minneapolis. This is your last chance to join the Beacon team to learn what is happening and do your part to help protect critical housing resources. Decisions are being made in D.C. that could lead to massive cuts to affordable housing. It’s critical that everyone understands the key role the federal government plays – and what’s at stake.
Panelists include:
Chris LaTondresse
CEO/President of Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative
Caroline Hood, LICSW
CEO/President of RS Eden
Rashida Jackson
Vice President of Housing Operations for Project for Pride in Living
Whether you attend in person, online, or want the materials sent to you after the event, sign up here for the July 1 event. Once signed up, you will be in the know so you can stay informed and engaged.

Your invitation will help Beacon
Light the Way Home
Invite your friends to our September event
Light the Way Home (LTWH) is the entire community’s opportunity to show up and give generously to Beacon’s supportive housing programs for individuals, families and young people. Will you be a table host? Table hosts introduce their friends, neighbors, coworkers, families, and congregation members to Beacon’s life changing work by inviting them to attend the September 9, 2025 event. All proceeds benefit Beacon’s supportive housing and advance our vision that all people have a home. Event details, table host sign up and single seat registration are on the Light the Way Home webpage. Contact Ashley at Beacon with your questions – abauer-yuen@baconinterfaith.org.
