At Emerson Village 40 families found home

Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative November 11, 2025

Emerson Village is now home to 40 families

In Minnesota, the crisis of homelessness is not a distant problem—it is here, urgent, deeply unjust, and growing. The figures tell the story: thousands without homes, lives at risk, racial and disability disparities soaring, our affordable housing supply failing to meet need.

But Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative and its supportive housing offers a proven, humane, effective path forward. It aligns with the values of justice, dignity and community. By investing in properly designed, deeply affordable, service-rich homes today, we can prevent people from falling into the cycle of homelessness—and help those who have experienced homelessness or housing instability as they rebuild their lives on a foundation of opportunity.

The question isn’t if we should do this—it’s how fast, how well, and with whom. Minnesota must choose to meet this moment with courage, compassion and conviction. Every new supportive home is a statement: We believe you matter. You belong. And you will not be forgotten.
