Losing Sleep, Losing Homes Vigil

November 25, 2025 @ 7:00 pm November 26, 2025 @ 7:00 am

Please join us on Tuesday, November 25, for a twelve-hour vigil standing in solidarity with those who fear losing their homes and calling on HUD to reverse its plan to cut supportive housing funds through changes to the Continuum of Care program.

Why:

Recent HUD changes to the Continuum of Care program will slash federal homelessness funding for 3,600 Minnesotans, with our state losing more than half of this critical support. The result would be thousands of people displaced and a destabilized housing system—triggering an immediate rise in unsheltered homelessness as programs close and Minnesota’s homelessness response is severely disrupted.

Where & When:

We invite you to sign up for one or more hour-long shifts to participate in this twelve-hour vigil—either virtually using Zoom or in person at the Basilica of St. Mary, 1600 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis, on Tuesday, November 25, from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am on Wednesday, November 26. Sign up and note your preference below.

Post about your experience on social media using hashtag #losingsleep4homes.

More Details:

Everyone who registers will receive more details and resources. Those joining in person will also receive parking information.

Staff and security from sponsoring organizations will be on site at the Basilica throughout the vigil.

Event Sponsored by:

Beacon Interfaith Housing Collaborative, The Basilica of St. Mary, and Catholic Charities Twin Cities.
