Inside Lydia’s Expansion
Since 2003, Lydia has been a deeply affordable and supportive home for individuals who have experienced homelessness. In fact, some of the residents who moved in when the building first opened nearly 20-years ago still call Lydia home.
Now, Lydia is doubling in size from 40 homes to 80 so that more people can experience the stability of home! We invite you to step inside the expansion at Lydia and learn what it takes for us to create these new homes:

“Lydia is one big happy family,” exclaimed James, a 14-year resident of the building. “This community means the world to me. Everyone here was homeless at one point in their life, just like me…Lydia has given me a safe place to call home.”
James will soon have 40 new neighbors who will all benefit from the safety and stability of a deeply affordable home with on-site support services. These new apartments are nearly complete. The flooring is in place, the cabinets are complete, and the bathrooms are coming together. Once the dust is cleared away, these homes will be ready!
It takes $15,000 per home in what we call “Seeds” funding before the shovel hits the ground to make homes like this a reality. These “Seeds” help us with the design of the building, the financing, the congregational organizing, and all the expertise required for us to eventually get a key in somebody’s hand to call it home.
