Our Stories – Light The Way Home
Written by Clara Lind – Donor Experience Manager
On the one-year anniversary of Beacon offices moving to remote work, a group of over 70 of us gathered. We gathered because we know that in times of isolation we are still deeply connected to each other.
Our third Light The Way Home highlighted this connection, with a program of illustrious speakers like longtime Beacon supporter Cammy Iverson, Reverend Michael Gonzales, CEO & President Lee Blons, and Beacon resident, Hawa.
Below you’ll find Hawa’s powerful remarks on what her home has meant to her through times of transition, through coming out of shelter and becoming a new mom:
In a time where many of us are craving human connection, Light The Way Home demonstrated that our shared commitment to home is critical in facing the historic levels of homelessness and housing instability. Together, Beacon is poised to launch 550 new homes for neighbors who count on deeply affordable homes.
Together, we’ll continue to support and sustain people in their homes. And together, we’ll change the way that government invests in those who would benefit most. Join us with a commitment to these shared values by donating here.
As Cammy shared with us at the event:
“In the end, it will be our story that not only tells who we are as individuals but also collectively. Our story tells us who we are as a community.”
We invite you to join us on April 28 to learn what impact a planned gift of any shape or size can have in furthering Beacon’s vision that all people have a home. Click here to learn more and RSVP.
