Joyful Giving
Written by Lauren Daumueller, Institutional Relationship Manager
There are not many things that feel the same as this time last year. We have all lived with so much uncertainty this year, and we have been called to reevaluate again and again what guides us. How we make decisions for ourselves and our families. What it means to care for one another. This has been true for us at Beacon, too.
As we pause for a moment of reflection, though, there is one light that shines the same, undaunted and undimmed: You – Beacon donors, collaborating congregations, local foundations, corporate sponsors – have shown up with your gifts to make sure our vision that all people have a home has not been lost.
So, just like every year, we get the joy of saying: Thank you! You are bringing light to dark days. Our Beacon neighbors are staying fed, clothed, and warm in their homes. Families in shelter are safe and together.
December 31st marks the half-way point of our fiscal year, and already almost 30 congregations have contributed more than $75,000 and in-kind gifts to support Beacon residents and shelter guests. More than 400 people have logged in to a weekly Beacon Now event to hear updates from our Community Connections Manager, and we have welcomed new donors at our first two Light the Way Home virtual fundraising events.
Your support is meeting bold goals. So far you have gifted $1.7 million this year, putting us well on track to meet our goal of raising $12 million over three years for our Connected by Home campaign.
While we all stay apart, it is giving us hope and bringing us joy that your gifts are still coming together to create home. Thank you for sharing our mission and vision, for acting on your faith, for your joyful giving. We are so honored to receive it.
Through the power of faith communities, our collaborative sees that all people have a home. Will you continue giving the gift of home? Click here to learn more on how you can help forward our shared Beacon mission.
